ABOUT
Stories is an interior architecture studio based in the Western Cape, specialising in residential new builds and renovations. We believe that the most meaningful spaces are shaped by the people who live in them. Every home carries a story, our role is to interpret those narratives, and translate them into spaces that feel both considered and deeply personal.Working from conception to completion, we offer a holistic design service that guides each project from initial idea through to final installation. Our work combines thoughtful spatial planning with technical precision, ensuring that every detail - seen and unseen - is resolved with care. Our services include technical drawings, FF&E and OSE specifications, furniture packs, and styling and staging for private homes and AirBnB properties. Whether designing a family residence, design-led destination property, or a short-term rental, we focus on creating spaces which are human centered and cohesively considered. At Stories, design is a collaborative journey which begins with your story, and ends in a home that reflects it.
THE FOUNDER'S NOTE
Our story began early, shaped by a deep curiosity for the built environment and an instinctive desire to shape space. From a young age, this manifested in a constant reworking of my own surroundings — spending pocket money on new pieces, rearranging layouts, and reimagining my bedroom as an evolving design exercise. That early fascination led to formal training, completing a BSc in Interior Architecture at the University of Pretoria, where a strong foundation in spatial planning, technical detailing, and conceptual thinking was established.Following my studies, my career began in an unexpected but formative setting: the design of blue-water sailing catamarans for private clients around the world. Working within the tight constraints of marine environments instilled a discipline for efficiency, durability, and precision — lessons that continue to inform our approach to residential design today.

From there, my focus shifted back to land-based architecture and interiors, working on residential developments and later with a bush lodge development company. These projects required extensive travel across Africa and involved the delivery of remote, logistically complex builds. It was here that my appreciation for hands-on making truly took hold — often working late into the night, tools in hand, installing custom elements just in time for photography, media launches, and the arrival of first guests. Those experiences — the long hours, remote sites, and demanding build schedules — shaped a deep respect for craftsmanship, construction, and the realities of building. They also reinforced the importance of spaces that feel grounded, intentional, and connected to their context. After years of designing for extraordinary locations and transient experiences, the focus naturally returned to the home. To the spaces where life unfolds more quietly — where peace is found, memories are made, and stories are lived day by day, surrounded by those who matter most.Today, Stories brings together this layered experience — from concept and technical resolution to hands-on execution — into residential interiors that are thoughtful, functional, and deeply personal. Each project begins with listening, and is shaped by a belief that a well-designed home should reflect not just how it looks, but how it is lived.
